A set of feature trusses have been installed for a residential home built by Bryan & Petersen Quality Builders. Located inside the central living areas, the feature trusses display its coated hardwood marvellously and with quality curvatures and timber finishes.
Vicbeam was approached to manufacture GL18 Vic Ash Hardwood glulam for this main residence, built on an open lot with loads of bushland and gardens. The glulam was assembled in factory and custom fabricated into feature trusses, where the timber texture and curving bottom chord is an eye-catching feature inside the home.
To ensure full appearance of timber, each truss has connections covered by timber plugs; often used to hide steel screws from sight. In this case, the plugs were used to the bottom chord of the truss and sanded to flush, making the trusses appear seamlessly made of hardwood with no steel materials.
Two layers of coating was applied to enrich the natural textures and markings of Vic Ash, making each truss contrast well from the white ceilings and other timber elements in the house.
A project that set a great example of including curve timber in feature trusses. They were custom fabricated and installed with timber plugs that seamlessly adds to the appearance of timber. Additionally, the coating makes these feature trusses look stunning from different angles of the home and will become a talking point in any social setting.
