Vicbeam was approached by McCorkell Constructions to supply glulam for a new police station located at Reservoir. The development has been built into a two-storey modern facility equipped with a spacious office setting and with multiple meeting rooms, all fixed with IT monitors and with state-of-the-art technologies.
Consulting with FMSA Architects, Vicbeam supplied and fabricate GL18 Vic Ash Hardwood Glulam beams, coated, and installed as part of the interior structure of the building. Its long span allows timber texture to feature in almost all rooms, from the designated entrances through to the surrounding offices.
Inside its spacious office setting are five glulam beams that contrasts well from the white ceiling and the lighting strip underneath. They stretch across the office and are supported by squared timber posts connected to window frames and the walls adjacent. Together, the timber produces a sleek and modern finish to the interiors and adds timber continuity to the office layout.
This project is a great example of using timber for both structural and aesthetic purposes. Apart from a few displays of nuts and bolts in the corners, all Glulam plates and connections are installed hidden, giving the glulam a clean finish and the beam an undisturbed display of timber texture.
Vicbeam are proud to supply glulam to Reservoir Police Station, a significant building well respected in all local communities.
