LVL Timber
Structural Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL15)
*Please note that we source our LVL timber for commercial projects only.
Laminated Veneer Lumber is a high strength engineered timber product formed by assembling thin sheets of wood, known as veneers and bonding them together with adhesive. It is a cost-effective and sustainable build material where 3mm thin laminates are dried and glued back together to any desired length. Vicbeam sources LVL products from Tilling Group, who specialises in wholesale of engineered wood products.
LVL has been tested to have comparable strength to solid timber, concrete and steel. Therefore, Vicbeam can supply LVL in many forms of structural applications where load bearing maybe present.
Vicbeam can fabricate the product to suit work-shop drawings, which allows LVL to be used in other forms of custom builds such as timber curtain walls systems. These include portals, pergolas, roof trusses, lintels and purlins.
The product comes in treated as standard and is available for decorative applications where its unique characteristics can be seen in the medium to large sized markings of each laminate. Grains and markings can vary from light to dark tones depending on which species is used. The product can also be coated to enhance the timber texture.
This is an alternative product that is cost effective and comparable with the qualities of Glulam timber. It can be used for both structural and decorative applications. The product is readily available with a quick turnover rate, which makes for a smoother and less complex process at Vicbeam.
