Melbourne Showgrounds Visitors Centre
The Pavilion
In 2019 Vicbeam was approached by Melbcon to provide GLT Engineered Portals for the new Melbourne Show Visitors Centre. The GLT members were designed with a concealed slotted plate connection and galvanized through bolt fixings. GLT Columns were tapered from bottom, 506mm to top, 660mm x 135mm GL18 (now GL15) Vic Ash (now Tasbeam). The Roof beams spanning up to 12.5 metres were shaped with angle cuts and rebates for embedded steel cleats.
Beams were coated with Cutek Extreme to provide a protective coat during installation with further coats applied prior to handover.
The Glulam Portals provide a sleek and modern design providing a large open space with the option for smaller rooms to suit a variety of purposes. The high ceilings provide a bright and open space with operable louvres to provide ventilation.
