A new redevelopment for a golf course located at Point Lonsdale has been built as a clubhouse centre. Vicbeam supplied the GL13 Radiata Pine which feature superbly inside the golfer’s lounge as glulam portals. Open to members, the spacious setting overlooks breathtaking views of the surrounding native bushland and coastal landscape.
Designed by Wood Marsh Architects and built by Ireland Brown Constructions, the lounge room’s interior offers spacious surroundings that is well framed by the rafter beams and high ceilings. Each rafter beams continues exteriorly, where they would be connected to columns exposed to the weather. This weather exposure required glulam members to be H3 treated for protection.
The look and texture of the glulam beams displays well with the openness of the room. They were coated with Dexpress Ebony tint, giving the portals a dark appearance with hints of natural timber markings along the grain. Such coating choice allows the portals to be in sync with the colours of the windows frames and continue the monotone into the lounge and dining room.
Additionally, Vicbeam also supplied LVL15 timber beams for the framing and structural support of the ceiling.
A magnificent clubhouse with breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, aided by glulam portals that combines well with other build materials. This is also a great project that shows off the unique coating options available when working with glulam.
