A new centre has been built for the Craigieburn community. With modern and state-of-the-art facilities installed, the Aitken Hill Community Centre can provide locals access to different community and health care services with spacious rooms.
Vicbeam supplied glulam timber beams made of H3 treated Radiata Pine to be installed at the opening entrance and interiors. A second pergola is also assembled in the middle courtyard where it divides the centre of the building, designed to promote nature and help circulate fresh air inside.
Promoting nature and its natural aesthetics is a theme which continues throughout the community centre. Exposed rafters with wonderful timber texture stretch throughout the ceiling and into light filled rooms, where timber is also present in the cladding, floors and window frames.
Community services like this have set a standard by utilising natural materials such as glulam beams to display an environment that is welcoming, an important factor for community services a-like.
