Vicbeam supplied GL18 Vic Ash Hardwood timber members to PrimeBuild, who were selected by Invocare to re-develop their new flagship funeral home. This business shared with Le Pines and White Lady Funerals underwent extensive renovation in 2017, bringing in excellent facilities for services since its re-opening in March 2018.
Upon entry, you are greeted with two timber portals that separates the chapel room from the entrance hall. Each portal connections are hidden and has clear glazed windows which reflects natural light to the entrance hall. This provides full exposure of natural timber and brings warmth into the entrance and hallway.
Beyond the chapel, a taller portal sits in the distance and has exposed timbers. Dangling lights above hovers over the chapel as natural light enters from the towering windows. This exposure of natural light allows evening and twilight services to be held, where the whole chapel shines of a beautiful mellow tone. Along the sides are neatly assembled columns providing additional support to a room that can seat 170 guests. These columns balance out the room with timber texture contrasting from the white walls and lights wonderfully.
Next door, the exposed timber columns are continued inside the memorial lounge, where they are integrated into the structure of the building and its steel window frames. Impressively, additional power point fittings installed onto timber columns is another great example of blending other materials with timber texture. Additionally, it also demonstrates the flexibility you have with timber products during its fabrication stage.
Invocare’s new Funeral home sets a great example in exploiting the full impact of natural lighting onto timber texture. Such exposure to natural light brings out a warm tone that is suitable for funerals and other life events.
