Glulam louvres are designed by architects to enhance energy efficiency by controlling the amount of heat, light, sun and ultra violet rays from entering a building. Timber Glulam louvres can also be used for sun control, privacy and ventilation and are available in durable timber species such as White Cypress, Spotted Gum and Treated Pine.
Louvres can be designed with an array of shapes and profiles depending on your preference and budget. Usually laminated timber fins are fixed into position due to their size and weight. During design a façade engineer will consider wind loads and structural requirements.
The Gipson Commons façade is made up of 292 White Cypress glulam fins (420mm x 85mm) in lengths of 3.8m and 4.2m
Behind these fins is an innovative education centre offering students (K-12) with access to many resources including both physical and electronic research database where young minds can commit to learning and innovation.
The new building comprises flexible classrooms, secluded pods for individual study, breakout spaces and custom designed science areas. An enclosed cafeteria which seats 200 also offering a multi-functional café style environment ideal for class functions and other large scale events.
Glulam louvres are visibly attractive and brighten up the façade of any building while offering the potential for energy savings. They can be made to almost any size and shape and coated with a vast selection of stains and oils. These fins were coated with Cutek Grey Mist.
