Gulam extension to a Heritage Listed Home
The glulam extension to this Heritage Listed Home blends modern design with the charm of the original structure. Featuring a striking skillion roof, it offers a contemporary contrast while preserving the home’s historic integrity. Expansive glass windows flood the interior with natural light, creating bright, airy rooms with views of the surrounding landscape. The use of Rothoblaas T bracket connectors was key to the swift assembly of the Glulam Timber (GLT) structure. These connectors enabled secure, precise connections, reducing the need for complex on-site joinery and speeding up installation. Their robust design provided stability, facilitating efficient and accurate framework assembly.
End capping was vital in preventing water from penetrating the end grain of the GLT beams, protecting the timber from moisture damage, such as swelling or rot, and ensuring long-term durability.
